FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW CAN I SEE APARTMENTS AND HOW DO I APPLY?

 All business is conducted online at Metro Flats including making appointments for viewing and applying for an apartment. 

1. Check out all our website pages 

2. Select the "Make an Appointment" page on the top menu bar.

3. Read the qualifications needed to become a resident.

4. If you meet these requirements, fill out and send the questionnaire. 

5. You must also send your license or government issued ID to appointments@metroHSVapts.com

6. We will contact you for an appointment to see the apartments. When visiting, we will show you how to apply online. 

DO YOU ALLOW PETS?

We only allow cats.  Limit of 2 per apartment.  $15 per pet monthly. There is a $250 initial non-refundable pet fee. 

LAUNDRY

Every apartment has a washer / dryer hookup located in a  separate laundry - utility room.  Some available apartments include a washer and dryer. 

WHAT ABOUT UTILITIES?

There is a mandatory $35 fee for Utilities & Services. This includes: water, sewer, trash, pest control, landscaping and regular AC filter maintenance. We even check and replace the batteries as needed in your electronic front door lock and smoke detectors so living here is headache and maintenance free for our residents!  The only utility you are responsible for is electric service which is through Joe Wheeler EMC. 

DO YOU SHOW APARTMENTS TO WALK-UPS?

We do not maintain an onsite office and are not setup to show apartments to walk-ups.  Please do not knock on doors of private residences.  All applicants must go through our online process starting at the "Make an Appointment" page.

HOW IS THE SAFETY?  

We  take the security of our residents seriously and have built many new safety features and enhancements.  Plus, we are located in one of the lowest crime neighborhoods in Morgan County surrounded by single family houses.  No other apartment buildings near by. Exterior lighting: we have installed "always on"  soft LED house lighting at every front door.  All parking areas, the buildings and the field have bright LED lighting on dusk to dawn. All front entry doors fitted with new electronic keypad operated deadbolts. Traffic is restricted to one entrance only and complex is protected by 24/7 video monitoring. Staff is on-site. 24-7 .



HOW DO I PAY RENT?

By hitting the "easy button" which takes you to the Metro Flats Online Resident Portal. Here you can setup all your financials including auto-pay so you are assured rent is paid on time. On the portal you can view your lease and other documents, put in maintenance requests and make payments and see your account status 24/7. 

Everything is done online!


INTERNET AND CABLE

We have upgraded all wiring to the latest cat-6 standard throughout the complex and have installed a custom router and modem in each unit. Our house system through Spectrum delivers super fast, non-throttled, business-class download speeds as well as a 100+ channel cable package with 1000s of free movie and TV titles for only $100 per month, significantly less than can be obtained for similar services if buying yourself. Participation in this package is mandatory for all residents.  Upgrading to higher tier cable packages and other services is available for an additional fee through Spectrum.


LEASE LENGTHS

Leases are for 1 year for unfurnished apartments. 

Leases are from one to twelve months for the furnished, executive apartments: 


APPLICATION FYIs 

All applicants signing the lease must be 21 years of age.  We do not allow co-signing.   For roommates, friends, and unmarried couples; at least one must be able to qualify alone and sign the lease. The other must apply and will be an approved resident in the apartment. We do not combine incomes and credit. Examples:  Good credit in one individual and good income in the other is not a basis for approval.  We also will not use the combined income of 2 unmarried individuals to meet the income threshold.


HOW FAST ARE MAINTENANCE CALLS HANDLED? 

Fast!  We have on-site maintenance staff to handle routine requests and solve problems that arise. There is also emergency maintenance 24/7. 


SQUARE FOOTAGE AND FLOOR PLANS: Apartments are approximately 800 SF in total area and all are 2-bedroom floor plans. 

There are 3 finish levels: Standard, Mini-Platinum and Platinum. 


SECTION 8,  HUD OR HOUSING ASSISTANCE: 

We do not accept section 8,  HUD or housing assistance vouchers.  


SCHOOLS

Metro Flats is in the Decatur School System. 

Frances Nungester Elementary, Brookhaven Middle School,

Decatur High School
